Novak Djokovic defeated Hubert Hurkacz 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-1 to claim a semi-final spot at the ATP Finals but had to wait until Jannik Sinner defeated Holger Rune to learn his fate. A win for Rune would have been enough to put him through ahead of the defending champion and world No 1, Djokovic. However Sinner proved too strong on home soil in Turin, following up his brilliant victory over Djokovic earlier in the tournament.
