Texas Tragedy: Deadly Car Crash near Cayuga Claims Two Men's Lives

In Waxahachie, Texas, there was a serious car crash on August 11, 2023. It happened on US 287, about a mile east of Cayuga. Two men lost their lives in the accident.

The crash took place at 5:18 PM and involved two vehicles: a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2021 Ford F250. The weather was good, and the road was dry when the accident occurred. Both vehicles were going at the speed limit of 70 mph.

The person driving the Chevrolet Silverado was a 23-year-old named Cody Austin Beard from Crockett, Texas. The Ford F250 was driven by Craig Morgan Warrick, who was 36 years old and lived in Waxahachie, Texas. Both men were wearing their seatbelts when the crash happened.

Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the Ford F250 tried to overtake another vehicle in a section of the road where passing wasn’t allowed. This caused the Ford to collide head-on with the Chevrolet Silverado. The impact pushed both vehicles off the road to the south, and they caught fire.

A local official, Justice of the Peace Gary Thomas from Precinct 1, arrived at the scene and declared both Beard and Warrick dead. The investigation, led by Trooper B. Taylor of DPS Palestine, is still ongoing. There’s no more information available right now.
